English rugby union player Chris Robshaw, former captain of the England national rugby union team between 2012-2015, excelled in his position of choice in the back row of the scrum. The start of 2007-08 season at London doubleheader was when Robshaw made his Premiership debut which then led to him being included in the England Saxons squad and winning the Churchill Cup. 201-15 season is when Robshaw joined the first team and became the club vice-captain of the Harlequins, which he later handed over to Joe Marler in order to fully focus on his captain duties at England. Winning the Aviva Premiership Player of the Year award twice, Will Greenwood compared Robshaw to the World Cup-winning blindside flanker, Richard Hill.
The award was first won following the 2008/9 season and then for a second time after the Harlequins 2011-12 victory in the Premiership final against Leicester Tigers. Robshaw’s mind then became focused on becoming an ‘uncapped’ Lion and securing a place on the upcoming Lions tour to South Africa. Although only previously obtaining a single cap, in January 2012 it was announced that Robshaw would captain for England, the first two games of the Six Nations.
Robshaw’s talent in leadership became highlighted and he went on to captain throughout the whole tournament resulting in a clean sweep of wins and only a narrow loss to eventual Grand Slam winners Wales. Robshaw's success continued as he helped drive his team to victory against New Zealand at the end of 2012. Robshaw was widely praised for his excellent captaincy and skills as a player, especially after the 2015 Six Nations Championship. Robshaw played every minute of the campaign and had a fantastic first game where England won 21-16 with Robshaw contributing a huge twenty-six tackles.
Unfortunately, the final result left England in second place for the fourth time in a row under coach Stuart Lancaster and Robshaw’s leadership. Ultimately resulting in Robshaw losing his captaincy role to Dylan Hartley while still retaining his usual sot as regular starter. As a former England Rugby Captain, Robshaw has an extensive understanding of Leadership and Teamwork and can speak passionately about how to relate this to any area whether it’s sports or a business environment. Having dealt with pressure and stress along with producing a high performing team throughout his career, Robshaw can offer a varied talk covering a range of topics.
