Hanoch Budin was born in 1962 in Canada to Holocaust survivors. At the young age of three, he went with his parents to Israel.
In June of 1982 in Lebanon, as an IDF soldier, he was hit by a mortar shell and lost his right arm. There on the ground, covered with dirt and blood, shouting with pain, Hanoch began his new life full of pain and a long rehab process.
After a long rehabilitation period, Hanoch chose to be an athlete and began his athletic journey that has been going on for more than twenty years, within the framework of the Israeli National Team in swimming.
Hanoch took part in six Paralympic games and won a total of eight medals, two of them being gold, alongside breaking two world records; this being amongst many of his international achievements.
During that, he kept on studying and built himself a long managing career in different jobs in the Israeli Capital market and established a family with two sons.
Hanoch made his business career in the capital market in the field of insurance, pension and investments in leading companies. In recent years, he has been mainly involved in marketing, consulting and entrepreneurship.
He was one of the significant characters in the Israeli version of the famous television reality show: ‘Survivor’, proving his ability, over his disability.
His book, ‘Single Handed’, was born out from his numerous appearances as a motivational speaker around the world. In his book, he describes his personal experiences from the injury in the army, the rehabilitation, the family, including his divorce, and the fact that he is the father of two grown sons, and the eldest of them served in an elite army unit.
In recent years, Hanoch has lectured in Israel and around the world. ‘Turning The Downside Into Advantage’ is a lecture, filled with optimism for personal empowerment and leadership, which shows the way to the top, from the worst place, difficult and impossible situation to success.
