Gold medallist and famous Olympic speaker Anna Watkins is a British rower born in Staffordshire who made her sporting debut in 2001. An impressive and intelligent Olympic speaker, Anna has won medals in both the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics winning a bronze and a gold medal respectively for her performance in the women’s double sculls where she rowed alongside team mate and fellow Olympic speaker Dame Katherine Grainger.
Though still in her early thirties Anna has already achieved a great deal, outside her work as a sportswoman and Olympic speaker, Anna graduated Alma mater with a Natural Sciences degree from Cambridge University whilst her other notable sporting achievements include two World Championships where she once again gained a gold medal in the women’s double sculls. Whilst in 2007 and 2009 she achieved a bronze and silver medal in the competition.
Now one of Britain’s most sought after Olympic speakers, Anna continues to take part in competitive sport, achieving first and second place in the single scull trials for the senior class of Team GB. Anna tours the UK and Europe discussing her achievements as an Olympic rower as well as working to encourage more young people into the sport.
