Mark Crossley

Former Nottingham Forest Goalkeeper & Goalkeeping Coach

Former international football player and current goalkeeping coach, Mark Crossley has played for a variety of England’s top-flight teams including Nottingham Forest and Manchester United. He has also made eight appearances for the Welsh national team where he displayed his incredible skill and ability as a goalkeeper to the entire world. Having also ventured into a managing career, Crossley has what it takes to deliver speeches surrounding leadership, effective teamwork skills and achieving peak performance.

He began his career as a trainee for Nottingham Forest in 1987 but joined the first team only a year later to make over 300 appearances in 13 years. His loyalty to the team over such a long period meant that he amassed a large scale fan base even though he made the occasional error whilst out on the pitch. By the 1990-91 season, Crossley was the first goalkeeper of the squad and held his position until leaving to join Middlesbrough in 2000.

Whilst playing for Fulham, Mark established himself as the world number three goalkeeper to Niemi and Jan Lastuvka. During a challenging game against Chelsea, Crossley managed to save every shot kicked his way meaning that Fulham took a 1-0 victory. His incredible ability to save goals didn’t fail at penalties either as he became one of only three keepers to save a penalty in the FA Cup Final and the only goalkeeper ever to have saved an attempt from Matt Le Tissier.

After retiring from football in 2011, Crossley turned to a career in coaching and management. He joined the likes of Chesterfield, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Notts County to inflict his 24 years worth of experience within football. Most recently, he has rejoined Chesterfield as the goalkeeper coach. A highly skilled and influential figure within football, Mark Crossley is fully equipped to deliver the most inspiring speeches at events. He can give advice on leadership and teamwork, suggest ways of maximising success and achieving peak performance whilst remaining entertaining and engaging to audiences at corporate, sports and school events.

“Worsbrough Bridge AFC recently had the pleasure of welcoming Mark Crossley to be our guest for our first ever sportsman event. Having heard good reviews about Mark it was a pleasure to hear him talk about his experiences, most notably playing for the legendary Brian Clough. Brilliantly entertaining and funny and would highly recommend, even if it is just to hear his impression of Cloughie it was almost like having the great man back with us. A great evening enjoyed by all”
Mark Booth, Worsbrough Bridge AFC
