Graeme Le Saux


British footballer and sports speaker Graeme Le Saux made a name for himself as part of the most successful Premier League team of the 1990’s. Named as part of the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Team of the Year whilst at Chelsea in 1998 and 1995 whilst at Blackburn Le Saux is now a successful TV presenter, football speaker and pundit.

Graeme began his footballing career at St Pauls of Jersey before he moved to Chelsea in 1987. Two years after moving to Chelsea he made his debut for the team, playing against Portsmouth. He became a regular by the 1990-91 season, leaving for the Blackburn Rovers in 1993. Whilst with the Blackburn Rovers Graeme was part of the Premier League champions squad. Graeme returned to Chelsea after a stint with Blackburn Rovers, going on to play in the League Cup and Cup Winners Cup.

After playing with Chelsea for a while he was swapped in a part-exchange deal to play for Southampton. In 2005 Graeme announced that he would be retiring from football, however he later came out of retirement to play for Wembley in their FA Cup campaign. As well as domestic football, Graeme also played football internationally. He claimed 36 caps for England, making his first appearance in a friendly game against Denmark. Graeme also had the opportunity to play in the 1998 World Cup with England.

Born in Jersey and of French descent Le Saux is one of the most intelligent footballers in recent years. Best known for his university education and liberal views Le Saux has spoken out against prejudice and homophobia within the football industry and, in his capacity as both a football speaker and a celebrity, is heralded for speaking out against the homophobic behaviour of his fellow footballers.

With a playing career that spans more than three decades Graeme Le Saux has an impressive collection of stories and anecdotes to share with audiences in his capacity as an after dinner speaker. Outside his work as an event guest and after dinner speaker Graeme Le Saux is an established football speaker and pundit, working for several years for the BBC on both their Match of the Day 2 programme and on Radio 5 Live Graeme has since moved to working as the football speaker and commentator for the American based NBC production company.

Outside his work as a sports speaker Graeme Le Saux has appeared on a number of reality TV series and game shows, his charming and amiable personality making him a much-loved guest and public figure.
