George Boateng


Football speaker and former Middlesbrough player George Boateng is a Dutch sports speaker of Ghanaian descent who played for a number of British and European teams throughout the 1990’s until his retirement in 2013. Born in Ghana Boateng spent much of his youth in Holland and played for both the Under 21’s and full Netherlands national squad, earning four caps for the team. Since his retirement, George Boateng has gone on to work as a football speaker both in Holland and the UK, discussing his time playing for both his national team and the numerous UK based teams on which he appeared.

Boasting an impressive career whilst playing in England, Boateng was a member of both the 2000 FA Cup runners’ up team and the 2004 League Cup winners whilst playing for Aston Villa and Middlesbrough respectively. Thanks to his long career at British clubs Aston Villa (3 years), Middlesbrough (4 years) and Hull City (4 years) Boateng is a popular after dinner speaker for both Dutch and English fans, and frequently returns to the UK despite working as a coach in Malaysia.

Upon retiring as a player George Boateng has gone on to establish a career as a football speaker and manger, working with the Malaysian team Kelatan FA. A long standing dream of Boateng’s he had always been open about his desires to be a football manager whilst still working as a player and told The Daily Mail that his dream job would be managing former team Aston Villa F.C. George Boateng remains incredibly fond of Villa and often appears as a guest at after dinner speaker and club events explaining that he admires the team’s training ground and their loyal supporters.
