A testament to female football, Eniola Aluko is an English footballer who currently plays for Serie A club, Juventus. An award-winning forward who has played for a variety of top-flight teams including Chelsea and Birmingham City, Aluko has amassed a wide range of skills and expertise in which she inflicts onto her audiences as an after dinner speaker.
Shortly after she was born in Nigeria, Eniola moved to Birmingham where she began playing for Leafield Athletic Ladies before joining Birmingham City Ladies’ youth team in 2001. A skilful player has made nearing 200 appearances across eight different clubs with over 80 domestic goals to her name. She has also been capped by England an astonishing 102 times throughout her 12 years playing for them and has also scored 33 goals for her country.
An icon of female football, Eniola played in the first FA Women’s Cup Final in which was held at Wembley Stadium in 2015. With a record attendance of 30,710 watching, she managed to contribute a Player of the Match performance to Chelsea’s victory against Notts County. She also managed to earn herself a place in the 2012 London Olympic Games first-ever official fixture and secure a qualifying slot for Great Britain in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Now also a popular commentator, Aluko has offered his opinions during some of football’s major events including the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup as well as becoming the first female presenter of BBC’s Match of the Day.
