In 1999, Chris started working as a Management Consultant for PwC. As an analysis and project manager, he specialised in Emerging and Integrating Technologies within the Information, Communications, and Entertainment sector. After four years, he became a professor at the City University London, teaching journalism at a Master's level. Chris' work studied a range of important topics, including socio-economic change and digital product development.
Chris worked as a Managing Director at Smoothmedia Consulting Inc for 16 years. In the role, he completed studies on everything from human behaviour to emerging technologies. During this period, he also worked for Goldsmiths, University of London. Starting in 2011, he worked as a Senior Lecturer and Director for the Digital Journalism course. Chris founded the course, which was the first Master's course of its kind in the country. The curriculum was split between computing and communications, two disciplines which Chris has dedicated his life to. In 2012, Chris was promoted to Director of Innovation. As the Programme Director, he researched topics on project management and innovation, subjects which he expands upon as a speaker.
As aforementioned, Chris has worked on a number of highly influential projects, starting in 2011 with the Generation Cloud Research Project. The research-based study centred around cloud computing and the details of modern digital life. In 2013, he continued this subject on the Wearable Technologies and Human Cloud Research Project. From virtual assistants to mobile security, the 2010s saw Chris lead industry impacting projects that questioned everything we know about technology.
In 2017, Chris' project, Open Your World, looked into acceptance and diversity, asking the question; "can individuals overcome stereotypes by interacting with more diverse people?". The research proved that with common ground, acceptance is possible. Chris' technology speeches explore his previous projects, going into detail on the study, research and conclusion.
