Popular comedian and television personality, Chris Addison, is a multi-talented performer with numerous strings to his bow. Having turned his hand to stand-up, acting, writing and presenting, Addison has proved himself as an extremely talented individual. Addison's first solo comedy show was at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2003, for which he was nominated for Best Newcomer at the prestigious Perrier Awards. Addison then continued to take shows to the Fringe for several years after, earning himself two further Perrier Award nominations. Then in 2005, Addison won The City Life Comedian of the Year Award for his comedic brilliance.
With a lengthy list of successful ventures under his belt, it is difficult to distinguish Addison’s most prominent achievement, although it is arguably recognised as his role of Olly Reeder, the enthusiastic-yet-cynical adviser in the hit BBC satirical comedy series ‘The Thick of It’ a role he excellently reprised in the Oscar-nominated film’ In the Loop’. Addison went on to Star in the BBC 2 sitcom Lab Rats, which he also co-wrote with Carl Cooper, that saw the refreshing return of the traditional, joke-heavy, studio based, sitcom formatting. Other TV appearances include Mock the Week, where Addison was appointed as a regular panellist after several successful guest appearances on the show. The prevalent comedian has also featured as a guest on hit show Have I Got News for You, Would I Lie to You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Live at the Apollo, ,The Graham Norton Show and QI.
In addition to his Stand-Up and acting career, Addison has also enjoyed a vast range of work in the world of radio. With his latest radio debut airing in 2010, where he hosted 7 Day Sunday, a sardonic news show on BBC Radio 5 Live. The multi-talented performer is also an accomplished writer having written a fortnightly finance column for The Guardian titled "Funny Money". In addition to writing two books, ‘Cautionary Tales for Grown Ups’ and ‘It Wasn't Me: Why Everybody is to Blame and you’re Not’, both published by Hodder and Stoughton.
