India 178-4 (20 overs) England 158-6 (20 overs) (w:India by 20 runs)
England’s national cricket squad have continued their stuttering form by losing their final World T20 warm-up game to India.
After a promising start from the England fielding side as they took 3 wickets for 39, India recovered with the help of fifties from Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina to finish on 178-4 after 20 overs.
The match marks England’s seventh defeat from eight in Twenty20 matches, further lengthening the odds of them emulating the success they enjoyed in 2010.
Despite a bright start of reaching 43-1 after five overs, England became troubled by India’s fearsome spin bowlers, with stand-in captain Eoin Morgan only taking 16 off 16 balls.
Morgan’s disappointment at his side’s performance was evident, with him stating:
“We kept coming at them but never managed to get it away so it was disappointing.”
However he remains confident about the side’s chances in Chittagong:
“But things are a bit clearer now, which is good going to Chittagong tomorrow. Our batting order is strong enough to compete with anything, especially on a good wicket like this one here.”
