After the first week of Six Nations rugby, Ireland are currently topping the table following their 28-6 victory over Scotland. Though the Scots put in a good performance, Ireland managed to convert their chances and their discipline and experience ultimately shone through.
England narrowly lost to France by just two points after a thrilling encounter in Paris. England came back from 16-3 down to lead the contest by five points with just four minutes left to play. With an away victory looking likely, France’s Gael Fickou became a hero for France after scoring a late try to secure victory.
In the weekend’s other contest, Wales managed an unconvincing 23-15 victory over Italy in Cardiff. Though they got the job done in the end, there will need to be improvement when they face Ireland next week if they are to win the Championship for an unprecedented third time in a row.
With all three games proving to be close contests, this looks set up to be one of the most exciting Six Nations championships in years.
