Manchester City celebrate Capital One Cup victory

Manchester City came from behind at Wembley to triumph in the Capital One Cup final against Sunderland. Manuel Pellegrini secured his first title as City boss and is still aiming for an unprecedented domestic treble.

Sunderland put in a spirited performance in which they were the better team for 55 minutes and fully deserved their 1-0 lead. Yaya Toure’s stunning strike and Samir Nasri’s individual brilliance left them 2-1 down in the space of one minute 45 seconds and City’s victory was completed by Jesus Navas in the 90th minute.

This victory is an important step for City’s star team as they aim for all the top prizes available in football. Though they may struggle to overturn Barcelona’s 2-0 lead in the Champions League, the two remaining domestic trophies, the Premier League and FA Cup, look well within their grasp.
