This month has seen the landmark 20th MOBO Awards take place in Leeds, with the cream of urban music gathering at the First Direct Arena to celebrate music of black origin. Grime was the big winner as the likes of Stormzy, Krept and Konan, and Skepta took home a number of accolades including Best Male Act, Best Hip-Hop Act, Best Album and Best Song.
Closely linked to the MOBOs is a man who goes by the name of Levi Roots, who was nominated for the award of Best Reggae Singer in 1998 and has seen his company sponsor the awards in 2010.
The multitalented Mr Roots is perhaps best known for his appearance on business show Dragons’ Den, where he entered the chamber singing and playing guitar before presenting his sales pitch for Reggae Reggae Sauce, a spicy jerk barbecue condiment which had proved immensely popular at the Notting Hill Carnival in previous years.
Dragons Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh opted to invest in Levi and his brand, and the rest is history – Reggae Reggae Sauce is now a mainstay of most UK shops and the company has expanded to frozen ready meals, soft drinks and cookery books.
As one of the most successful contestants to come out of Dragons’ Den, Levi has taken his inspiration from music and channelled it into his business, which has proved a huge success – and as an after dinner or keynote speaker, he can share his life experiences and business tips with your audience.
A charismatic, funny, intelligent and inspirational speaker, Levi knows how to entertain a crowd and his joie de vivre is infectious, making for a wonderful experience for your event and your audience. Put some music into your food, your company and your life by booking Levi Roots as an after dinner speaker for your business, music or culinary event with Champions Speakers.
