Two of the country’s biggest celebrity personalities will captain teams of celebrities in a series of sporting challenges. Top comedian John Bishop and two-time Olympic champion Sebastian Coe will lead their teams in events including rhythmic gymnastics, track cycling and swimming, all to raise money for Sport Relief.
Coe won gold in the 1500m, and silver in the 800m, at both the 1980 and 1984 Olympics and many will believe he has the edge over Bishop. However, the Liverpudlian comedian completed a five-day challenge to cycle, row and run the 290 miles from Paris to London in 2012 in aid of Sport Relief.
The series of challenges are set to take place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as part of the Sport Relief Night of TV on Friday 21 March.
John Bishop said: “Am I intimidated by going up against four-time Olympic medal winner Sebastian Coe? No, I say, bring it on! May the best man win.”
Coe responded: “I hear John Bishop has quite a competitive streak but I know these venues inside out – something that, probably unrealistically, I am hoping will play to my advantage.”
