Gravity and 12 Years a Slave triumph at 2014 BAFTAs

Space adventure film Gravity was the major winner at last night’s BAFTA awards, taking home six prizes including Outstanding British Film and Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron. Inspirational drama 12 Years a Slave also triumphed, winning the coveted Best Film honour and star Chiwetel Ejiofor took home the prize for Best Actor.

The evening was a star-studded affair hosted by Stephen Fry, welcoming famous faces including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese and Tom Hanks. President of BAFTA Prince William was also in attendance, and was high-fived by rapper Tinie Tempah during his opening performance.

Best Supporting Actor – Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips)

Best Supporting Actress – Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle)
