Winter Olympic skier and Champions Celebrity client, Graham Bell, became the new host for the event. Graham took to the stage alongside ITV weather presenter, Emma Jesson, at the state-of-the-art East Midlands Conference Centre on the University of Nottingham’s campus to celebrate and recognise the achievements of Nottinghamshire sportspeople over the past year.
In total there were 14 awards up for grabs, including Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year Awards, a prize for Ten Years of Achievement, a Lifetime Achievement Award and a Community Award, to name but a few. Sporting celebrities from the past and present attended, presenting awards and mingling with guests. Among many others, star-spotters were excited by the presence of England’s legendary goalkeeper, Peter Shilton OBE, snooker’s Mr. Maximum, Willie Thorne, former Forest favourite, Nigel Jemson and short track speed skating star, Elise Christie.
Guests arrived to a Champagne Reception sponsored by Smooth Radio and their breakfast show presenter, Gareth Evans, were there on the night to join in. Once more the Nottingham Sports Awards was a wonderful highlight of Nottinghamshire’s sporting calendar.
