Cheryl Cole has confirmed that she shall rejoin the eleventh series of ITV’s X Factor, joining Simon Cowell in a bid to regain the shows former glory as one of the highest rated shows on television.
Last Christmas, a peak audience of 11.5 million watched Sam Bailey become the latest superstar to emerge from the show, compared to an audience of 17.7 million in 2010, when Cheryl Cole last appeared on the show.
Fan’s caught a glimpse of what may be on Instagram, with Cheryl posting a photo jokingly throttling Cowell with the caption “Guess what? I’m back.” It was only when Cowell responded on Twitter that the news was confirmed, with Cowell tweeting “It’s official. Cheryl is back.”
ITV also confirmed the news today, with a statement from Cole stating;
“I’m inspired and ready to find new talent and potential pop stars. It’s going to be a fun series.”
The talent show will air in the autumn, with open auditions taking place from April onwards.
