Formerly part of the hugely popular British pop and R’n’B music act b JLS Jonathan Benjamin JB Gill is a popular solo artist and beloved celebrity who has competed on a range on high profile television shows and appeared as a guest and presenter on numerous televised and live events.
Beginning his singing career at a young age Gill attended the Centre for Young Performers in London for several years before taking vocal coaching lessons in his late teens. An intelligent young man JB Gill briefly attended the prestigious Kings College London where he studied theology, choosing to leave to pursue his music career.
Gill sky rocketed into the public eye when he appeared alongside his fellow bandmates on the 2008 series of the music act competition the X Factor. Coached by Louis Walsh the band quickly garnered a large fan base and eventually came second behind the female solo artist Alexandra Burke.
After their X Factor success JB Gill and the rest of JLS went on to have a great deal of commercial success with the label Epic Records who they remained with for five years. Their first two singles, Beat Again and Everybody in Love both went straight to number one on the UK Singles Chart, whilst their first three albums charted in the top three.
In 2009 JLS became the first X Factor competitors to win a BRIT award, leading international superstar, solo artist and rapper Jay Z to predict that they would go on to become on the of the biggest R’n’B boy band in the world.
After five years of incredible success JLS announced in 2013 that they would be going their separate ways following the release of their final album and farewell tour. Since the disbandment JB Gill has gone on to release his own album, making him the first member of JLS to pursue a solo artist career. He continues to appear on high profile television shows on both sides of the Atlantic and perform gigs around the globe.
