British solo artist Bev Bevan is one of the most well-known stars of the 1970’s and early 80’s, he contributed to at least three of the era’s biggest bands and worked with some of the most infamous names in British rock music.
Beginning his career as a drummer in a number of relatively unknown bands, Bevan hit the big time when his third band, The Move, came into being. Bevan played percussion for The Move for five years before they disbanded. In the years that followed Bev Bevan released his own solo album before joining his next band, the Electric Light Orchestra.
Bev Bevan played on all but one ELO album and, after the band ended in 1986 he started ELO Part II, where he also played drums on all but one album during the band’s existence.
As well as playing with The Move and ELO Bev Bevan also worked with one of the other biggest music acts of that era, Black Sabbath, on their 1983 Born Again tour. Alongside his music work, Bevan is also a radio presenter for BBC West Midlands where he presents a regular Sunday afternoon show as well as contributing to the local Sunday Mercury as a music critic.
Bev continues to perform alongside his former ELO and The Move bandmates, now under the new name Bev Bevan’s Move, this group, who consist of both ELO and The Move members, are available for hire for various functions.
