Stand-up comedian, impressionist, comedy actor and writer John Thomson is a popular British film and television actor known for his appearances alongside some of Britain’s most popular comedy performers, including Steve Coogan, Paul Whitehouse and Martin Clunes.
Thomson has appeared in popular British television since the early 1990’s and has worked consistently as a stand-up comedian at university; John Thomson began his career as an actor and comedy writer on the British satirical series Spitting Image, later going on to work closely with Steve Coogan on such shows as Coogan’s Run, The Paul and Pauline Calf Video Diaries and Knowing Me, Knowing You… with Alan Partridge.
Since then John Thomson has accrued a number of awards for his work as a stand-up comedian, comedy writer and actor, including a Perrier Comedy Award for his work at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He was a long-standing cast member for the cult British comedy The Fast Show as well as holding a role as a recurring actor in Men Behaving Badly.
More recently John Thomson has become known for his role in the ITV comedy drama Cold Feet in which he played Pete Gifford, as well as a recurring guest role in Coronation Street, the court-room drama New Street Law and the BBC series Waterloo Road. He has worked as a voice actor on the revived BBC children’s series Bill and Ben and Mr Windfall in Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.
