Jenny Eclair


Veteran comedian Jenny Éclair is one of the nation’s grumpy old women, known for her appearances on both the BBC series of the same name and on shows such as Loose Women and This Morning, Éclair is a beloved TV personality and enthusiastic complainer.

Working as a stand-up comedian since the early eighties Jenny Éclair was the first woman to win the coveted Perrier Award for comedy, she has worked on both television and at live events, her most notable TV appearances including as a talking head on Grumpy Old Women, Grumpy Guides, a presenter on ITV’s early afternoon panel show Loose Women and as a contestant on a number of reality TV and fundraising shows including Splash, I’m A Celebrity and The Weakest Link.

Alongside her television work Jenny Éclair continues to work as a stand-up comedian, appearing at festivals and touring on her own headline show. Her most popular stage show to date is Grumpy Old Women Live, which she co-wrote with fellow comedian and grump Judith Holder.

She has also written a number of plays and stage shows, both of the theatrical and comedic persuasion, a trained actress in her own right Éclair demonstrates her versatility as she effortless shifts from comedian to writer to serious actress.

Jenny Éclair has acted in a number of TV shows, from Holby City to The Bill and has appeared in a number of West End and theatrical plays including the title role in The Killing of Sister George. Her own co-written play, Andy Warhol Syndrome, became critically acclaimed and was adapted for radio and she has contributed to a number of made-for-radio plays including two series of Twilight Baby.

Jenny is a popular guest and frequently appears on Women’s Hour on BBC Radio 4, her short temper and strong opinions make her a great panellist for television and radio shows and she has shown that she can be both hilarious and highly competitive on game shows such as Just a Minute and Banter, also on Radio 4.
