Alastair Stewart


A familiar face in the world of television broadcasting, Alastair Stewart is one of the best-known journalists and newscasters in the country today. This historic moment sent ripples across the world and Alastair was on hand to ensure the moment was remembered for years to come. Alastair followed up this with coverage of the Gulf War. Reporting from the liberated Kuwait City, he provided primary insight and information on a serious global issue.

The 90s saw Alastair move back to his native isle where he presented ITV’s coverage of the 1992 Government Budget. The popular newscaster also provided special commentary on the ITV network for important events like the State Opening of Parliament, by-elections, state visits and the royal weddings of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Lady Diana Spencer and The Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson. Such was Alastair’s success he was even featured in pop culture as himself on Bad Girls and the 1999 romantic comedy Notting Hill.

The millennium saw Alastair return to his international news roots working for the ITV News Channel. His weekly show, Live with Alastair Stewart, covered the 2003 Iraq War. As a journalistic heavyweight Alastair was also chosen as the anchor on Election Night Live: America Decides. This special provided coverage provided insight into the 2008 US Presidential Election. Thanks to these successes Alastair became a staple of British culture presenting both the ITV Lunchtime News and ITV Evening News. Alastair also became the first ever journalist to moderate the UK political leaders debate in 2010.

More recently Alastair has become the presenter for ITV Weekend News and continues to expand his CV appearing on stage and screen alike.
