Technology entrepreneur and international best-selling author, Tommy Stadlen has quite an expansive repertoire. Having worked with some of the major figures of the world, including former President Barack Obama during his 2008 Presidential campaign, Tommy has provided advice on sustainability and the future of technology, as well as advising large companies on social media and corporate social responsibility. He uses all his expertise in his own technology start-ups, such as Polaroid Swing.
Graduating from Oxford University with first class honours, and holding an MSc (Distinction) from London School of Economics, Tommy is a former McKinsey consultant, with global experience across sectors advising C-level clients on business strategies. As a consultant, he provided advice on technology and sustainability to the likes of Obama and former British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, as well as major companies and governments.
Tommy also co-wrote the international best-seller, ‘Connect: How Companies Succeed by Engaging Radically with Society’ with former BP CEO Lord Browne, which explores the recurring breaks between big companies and society, and offers ways of bridging these gaps. Arianna Huffington states the book ‘will redefine the way we think about business’, and it exemplifies Tommy’s forward-thinking approach to business.
Most recently, Tommy has partnered with Frederick Blackford to reboot the 20th-century photography phenomenon, Polaroid. However, the Silicon Valley start-up will not be remodelling the cameras or selling film again – instead, Polaroid is returning as a mobile app. This time, users will capture a second of time, rather than a motionless photo, that they can share on their user feed with fellow photographers. Tommy is hoping that, as with the original Polaroid cameras, they can use current and relevant artists to promote this platform.
