Piers Taylor

Renowned & Award Winning Architect

Regarded as ‘one of the brightest architects in the profession’ Piers Taylor is perhaps one of the most high profile architects in the industry. Having worked in architecture and property design for most of his life, Piers has an extensive knowledge on the subject and practices what he preaches living in a woodland house in Bath which he helped build himself.

As well as designing numerous buildings including the 2013 RIBA Award Winning room and the ‘Moonshine’ house which won the AJ small Project Award he also owns two architectural practices. These are the Mitchell Taylor Workshop and Invisible Studio. Invisible Studio are an award-winning practice who have worked on some of the biggest projects in the country. They aim to be innovative, different and creative and operate directly from a self-built woodland studio. With strong links to the leading timber engineers in the UK no project is too big for them to take on. During his after dinner speaking engagements Piers is able to talk about how much preparation and research it takes to undergo such projects and how it feels to see your designs come to life.

He has also made a success of a career in broadcasting hosting numerous architecture related television programmes. Alongside fellow architect Kieran Long he presented the BBC Two show The House that £100k Built which earned rave reviews and whose opening episode drew in almost 3 million viewers a remarkable feat for an architecture programme. He has also hosted The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes with actress Caroline Quentin which exhibited some of the most surreal pieces of architecture on the planet. Britain’s most Spectacular Backyard Builds was also fronted by Piers and has saw positive viewing figures on BBC Two.

Incredibly passionate about architecture being part of the education curriculum, Piers has also written numerous journals and contributed to magazines discussing the topic. As an after dinner speaker he is able to discuss his architecture, business and journalistic career at great length.
