Pierce Li is the current CEO of Oil and Gas Council, the largest and most influential network of senior oil and gas, finance and investment executives in the world. He also takes on the role of co-chief executive officer for the Oil and Gas Council. He was vice president of business and development from February 2008 to March 2011, thus promoted to senior vice president of business development from March 2011 to October 2013.
Li has served as Vice President of Business Development of Asian American Gas, Inc. (AAG) since February 2007, but has since become CEO and president of the corporation since October 2013. Initially, AAG is a leading CBM (coalbed methane) producer in China, with a focus on upstream development and value optimization of unconventional gas resources, leading to a usage of cleaner energy for the Chinese Economy. Li’s work responsibilities primarily revolve around the corporation’s overall business development and growth strategies, government and partner relations, human resource management, sales and marketing, administration matters and public relations of various oil and gas projects.
Pierce Li attended Shanghai Jiao Tong University and completed his bachelor’s degree in Engineering in July 1992. He then went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Peking University in August 1998. In April 2000, he received his Master of Business Administration degree from China Europe International Business School. Before joining the Oil and Gas Council, Li held various positions with AAG, such as project manager and marketing manager, business development director and deputy president of business development from December 1999 to June 2008. Therefore, amounting to more than 15-years experience in business development, project management and marketing & sales management in CBM, coal exploration and development business.
Li has been a keynote speaker at numerous events around the world, such as the 2017 China Energy Assembly, which attracted over 300 participants. When speaking at these events, Li often refers to the prospects of the Chinese natural gas market and the outlook of AAG Energy in the future, determined to pursue new oil and gas opportunities for the future growth of China.
