Lee McQueen

Successful Businessman & Winner of The Apprentice in 2008

Working for some of the biggest companies in the UK, Lee McQueen is a former Apprentice winner who now own his own sales and recruitment company. Well known for his catchphrase that’s what I’m talking about which he frequently used on the show, Lee beat 20,000 competitors to become Lord Sugar’s apprentice.

The son of a milkman, Lee left school with few qualifications and his first job was as a trainee catering manager at the prestigious Harrow School, he worked there for four years before moving into recruitment. He spent a decade in the industry with the majority of this time spent working for international business Capita. In this role, he was in charge of over 30 members of staff and turning over £32 million which has stood him in good stead for his entire career.

In 2008 he entered reality show The Apprentice where his impressive record on the show led to him winning and earning a £100,000 a year job with business magnate Lord Sugar. Only losing three tasks in the entire process, having a 100%-win record as project manager and never being in the bottom three making him one of the best contestants in the history of the show.

Despite suffering with food poisoning on what was supposed to be his first day working with Lord Sugar, Lee went on to have a highly successful two years at the company. He helped set up Amscreen with Lord Sugar’s son Simon which is a digital media business. In the role of Development Director, Lee secured deals with huge companies including BP.

In 2010 he left the company in order to launch his own sales and recruitment business Raw Talent Academy. The business describes itself as an ‘’award-winning Sales Recruitment and Training business with a proven track record of unearthing hidden sales talent.’’ The company won Small Business of the Year at the 2015 Oxfordshire Business Awards. The brand has launched numerous academies all over the country including in Birmingham, Bristol and Watford.

He has regularly appeared on television offering advice to people who are disappointed with their GCSE and A-Level results, as he is the perfect example of someone who achieved success despite a lack of qualifications.
