Jambu Palaniappan

Former Head of UberEats for Europe, Middle East and Africa

Jambu Palaniappan is most notable for his role in the food takeaway company, UberEats. Prior to this, he grew up in Silicon Valley surrounded by fast-growing technological advancements, which sparked his interest in what technology can do for society. Building from this interest, he studied at Vanderbilt University, gaining a Bachelors degree in Public Policy and Economics. Prior to spending six years at Uber as one of their first 100 employees, Jambu operated in corporate development in the technology industry, using the knowledge gained from his degree to influence the landscape of technology.

A key figure in the development of UberEats, Jambu lead the companies branches in Eastern Europe, Russia, the Middle East & Africa as their General Manager. During this role, he developed market strategies in the EE&MEA region and worked with expansion teams to manage new market entries. From the moment the company began, Jambu aided its growth to become one of the most widespread food takeaway companies in the world, with just his sector spanning across over 100 cities in the EE&MEA. Since joining in 2012, Jambu has played a key roll in Uber’s growth, making it possible for them to reach over 70 countries worldwide.

Since moving on from UberEats, Jambu now holds the position of Executive-in-Residence for the technology venture capital firm, Atomico. Within this role, he utilises his knowledge and experience in business and technology, advising companies on how to improve their business and compete at an international level.
