Rt Hon David Davis

Conservative MP & Chair of the Future of Banking Commission

David Davis has been the Conservative MP for the Haltemprice and Howden constituency since 1987. During his time in Parliament, he has served as Deputy Prime Minister and shadow Home Secretary, but is best known for resigning as an MP on principle to regain his seat in the resulting by-election after his civil liberty focused campaign. His actions were in order to provoke a wide debate over the erosion of these civil liberties in the United Kingdom. After his re-election, David has established himself as an influential backbencher whilst also taking the chair of the Future of Banking Commission.

As a political speaker, David focuses on social mobility and society and the effects that ‘fairness’ has on these indicators during his keynote and after dinner speeches. David is also a firm believer that both business and political worlds need more scrutiny and competition in order to create peak performance and achieve their potential.

Before his political career, David attended the University of Warwick and was awarded with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Computer Science. David joined Tate & Lyle, during his 17 years at the firm; he rose to senior executive and worked closely with restructuring their Canadian subsidiary Redpath Sugar. These experiences have led to him becoming an expert in corporate turnaround.

David has held various positions in Government including Europe and Security Command Minister and Science Minister. During the Blair administration, David was appointed as the Chairman of the all-powerful Public Accounts Committee. His vast experience in both the corporate and political world make him a great political speaker, perfectly suited to both keynote and after dinner speeches, his anecdotal tales and invaluable advice will captivate audiences.
