Lord John Prescott

Britain's Longest Serving Deputy Prime Minister

Britain’s longest serving Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott oversaw the change of the Labour Party to New Labour along with the resulting reign of Tony Blair between 1997 and 2007. As a political speaker, John Prescott’s knowledge of UK modern domestic politics is of high acclaim, enabling him to deliver after dinner and keynote speeches with incredible detail and clarity.

During the 1980’s, John was seen to be the political link to the working class in a Labour Party being increasingly led by middle-class professionals. With the victory of the Labour Party in 1997, Prescott was made Deputy Prime Minister as well as becoming the head of the Department for Environment, Transport and the Regions. John’s role as Deputy Prime Minister meant he often stood in for Tony Blair when unavailable. John led many Prime Ministers Questions sessions along with representing Blair at various government meetings.

John retired as Deputy Prime Minister in correlation with Tony Blairs resignation as Prime Minister in June 2007, remaining as an MP until the 2010 election before retiring from the commons completely. John was made a life peer and currently sits in the House of Lords.

John’s often controversial career in politics works perfectly in his after dinner and keynote speeches. Working with a rich fund of anecdotes, John reminisces over serving drinks for influential figures in the Merchant Navy, to being the right hand man for the nations most prominent political figure for decades.
