James Landale was educated at Eton College, where he was a near contemporary of Prime Minister, David Cameron. Educated at Eton College, the same College as David Cameron and Prince William, Landale went on to study Politics at the University of Bristol. Whilst studying in Bristol, Landale became the first editor of Epigram, Bristol University’s independent student newspaper.
In July of 2013, Landale was awarded an honoury Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Bristol in recognition of his journalistic achievements. Prior to joining the BBC in 2003, Landale spent 10 years as a reporter with The Times newspaper, latterly as Assistant Foreign Editor.
Landale was chief political correspondent for the BBC News Channel until 2009, when he became Deputy Political Editor, assisting Political Editor Nick Robinson. During Landale’s time as a political correspondent, he has also presented some relief shifts on the channel. Landale lives in London, the central location for British politics.
He was diagnosed with large B-cell Non-Hodgkins lymphoma in October 2008, and has undergone six courses of chemotherapy. An experienced news presenter and expert on political affairs, James Landale has had plenty of experience within media, journalism and politics all over the world.
