Not just the ordinary speaker! From specialist military selection processes to night raids in Baghdad, operations in Afghanistan to huge individual endurance events, Guy talks from hard won experience about the virtues of leadership, planning, communication and people skills.
His vast and diverse 26 year military career serving in high tempo and specialised roles gives him a huge amount of practical examples and anecdotes to drive home your key message. His background is shared by very few and is truly unique. Having successfully made the transition to civilian life, Guy takes his audience on a journey that illustrates transferrable skills from military life into the business world and the key tenants of achieving success and the mindset that the individual needs to create in order to visualize success.
Guy uses his successful solo swimming experiences of the English Channel (2015) and circumnavigation of Manhattan Island, NY (2017) to drive home the point that it’s not all about natural talent but mindset and work ethos. More recently (July 2018) Guy successfully completed the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming, the challenge is a marathon swimming challenge which consists of three historically important swims
- The English Channel, 33.7 km between France and England
- The Catalina Channel, 32.5 km between Catalina Island and the California mainland
- Manhattan Island Marathon Swim, a 48.5 km circumnavigation of ManhattanIsland, New York City.
He is the 13th Briton and 182nd person to complete the challenge.
Guy’s business experiences running a consultancy specializing in high net worth asset protection and risk mitigation solutions has allowed him to understand the importance of business training and education. His work mainly with big brands and household sporting names providing bespoke services has given him unique insight into the importance of organizational reputation, discretion and professionalism.
Delivered in a relaxed and informal manner, Guy is comfortable from the boardroom to the shop floor; in large or small audiences. His ability to connect with his audience and deliver an intimate and personal talk makes the experience even more compelling.

“Guy has delivered several sessions now for the RDLC Pirates, always in a relaxed manner so the audience are comfortable. Guy draws on his huge experience in the military to create parallels between that world and the corporate to inspire our membership to change their practices and mindset and to think wider and higher. Guy is credible, interesting and brings a unique and different view to the subject of leadership, management and team motivation. I will also add Guy is a top bloke and smart as a button! Gary Goldsmith – RDLC Pirates
“Guy came in to deliver a session for a group of 10 of our staff using his experiences from his time in the Special Mission Units and translating them into key learnings for our team. His session was incredibly engaging and his ability to use experiences of high pressured situations, leadership, dedication, teamwork and compassion from his time in the Special Mission Units to help our team better understand how they can develop was brilliant. Guy’s presentation style was excellent and while dealing with examples of conflict he maintained a sense of humour to ensure that our team were relaxed and felt comfortable asking him questions. At the end of the session Guy fielded around 20-25 questions which demonstrated to me that the team thoroughly enjoyed his presentation. I would highly recommend Guy to any business looking to motivate and drive their workforce to increase their output and develop. First Class!”

“Guy was extremely professional and gave a great insight into the transition to life after working in the forces. He was open and generous with his own personal experiences to put others at ease. He allowed people to question him with their own personal battles and offered his experienced opinion to try help them, this I feel benefitted those that attended immensely. I would gladly have Guy back for a talk again.”
Grimsby Institute Group
“With this being our inaugural Veterans Event, we wanted a professional, engaging and knowledgeable figure to get across the many transferrable skills one gains from a military career and how these can be utilised to aid the transition from military to civilian life. Guy delivered on all levels outstandingly well. He was able to combine his experiences with a humour and warmth that immediately put the audience at ease.
How he explained the way skills developed in the military mirrored what employers were looking for really hit home with our veterans and the feedback we received on the night was excellent. Everyone then went home with enhanced confidence of their future career prospects.
I would have no problem recommending Guy Batchelor for any public speaking event and would certainly have him back at The Grimsby Institute for future events”
