British news journalist and TV presenter Paul Mason is best known as the economics expert for Channel 4 where he works alongside a number of other reputable broadcasters dealing with some of the most important recent events in global affairs and finance.

Previously appearing as a panellist and TV presenter on the influential BBC show Newsnight Paul Mason has a number of years’ experience as a television journalist. Following his departure from the BBC Mason became Channel 4’s Culture and Digital Editor, acting the company’s foremost TV presenter on social, cultural and commercial affairs.

Mason began his career in print journalism and previously held positions as Deputy Editor of Computer Weekly, a campaigning magazine whose investigative team regularly made waves across government and industry. He has been awarded the Worldworld Business Journalist and Wincott awards for his work as a television and radio presenter and the Diageo African Business Reporting Award for his acclaimed film on how mobile phones are changing the continent.

As well as working as a television and radio presenter and broadcast journalist Paul Mason also contributed a popular blog whilst at Newsnight, entitled Idle Scrawl, which has been twice long-listed for the Orwell Prize. Despite no longer working as a TV presenter for the BBC Mason continues to maintain a popular online presence and is known as one of the first Brits to broadcast from within the digital world of Second Life.

Paul Mason is also an accomplished non-fiction writer, publishing three books, Why It’s Kicking off Everywhere, Live Working or Die Fighting: How the Working Class Went Global and Meltdown and more recently produced his first novel, Bare Earth, in which a journalist explores the darker side of Chinese tourism.
