Michel Camdessus is a French economist, administrator and finance speaker who is the longest serving Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF); his term serving from January 1987 to June 2000.
Camdessus has worked as a finance speaker and economist in his native France for more than forty years, acting in his time as Chairman of the French Financing Corporation, the Société de Financement de l’Economie Française (SFEF), Director of the Treasury in the Ministry of Finance, Chairman of the Paris Club, and Chairman of the Monetary Committee of the European Economic Community.
In his capacity as an after dinner speaker, Camdessus draws on his extensive experience working within these groups; his involvement in handling some of the biggest economic problems to face Europe in the 20th Century make for captivating and inspiring content at any economics event where Camdessus is a keynote speaker.
Now known as a world class keynote speaker and economics expert Camdessus began his career as the Deputy Governor of the Bank of France and was made Governor in 1984.
