Dan was formerly Head of Metals Research at Standard Chartered Bank and had global responsibility for the bank’s price forecasts and market analysis on base, precious metals and steel. According to Bloomberg, he was the most accurate copper and gold forecaster in 2009, the most accurate aluminium forecaster through 2009 and 2010 and the most accurate silver forecaster through 2010, 2011 and 2012.

The metals research team was also ranked first in the AsiaRisk magazine in 2011. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Dan is a regular commentator on Bloomberg and CNBC TV. He has also been a regular keynote speaker at metals and mining conferences around the world, including London Metal Exchange (LME) week events in London and Hong Kong and conferences in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the US. He has led training programmes for both the LME and CFA society on commodity market analysis and forecasting.

Dan graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1990 with an Honours degree in economics. He has worked for over 20 years as a commodities analyst in the banking sector and at consultancy companies in the oil and gas and metal markets.
