Alan Carr became a household name after fronting the incredibly successful show ‘The Friday Night Project’ with co-host Justin Lee Collins. Born in 1976 in Dorset, Comedian Carr graduated Middlesex University with a 2:1 BA (hons) in Drama and Theatre studies, before relocating to Manchester to further his opportunities within comedy. He quickly became a regular within the Manchester comedy circle, alongside other famous comical names such as Jason Manford, John Bishop and Justin Moorhouse. His rise to comical stardom was confirmed when in 2001 he was awarded both the BBC New Comedy Award of Stand-up, as well as the CityLife Best Newcomer of the year.
As famous within radio and he is comedy Carr took over BBC Radio 2 on Christmas Day 2007. Stints across BBC Radio helped him forge an army of loyal fans and he quickly began to front his own shows such as ‘Going out with Alan Carr’ which ran every Saturday 6pm-8pm. Regardless of his success, Carr turned his back on radio in 2012 during his ‘Chatty man’ show.
With radio behind him Carr began to focus his attentions on his television and comedy careers, and soon found himself hosting his own chat show ‘Alan Carr: Chatty Man’, on Channel 4- it’s success found himself being commissioned for a further three series of the show. A no holds chat show, Carr welcomes famous faces onto his sofa where he looks relaxed and in control present to a live audience. His ability to perform in front of large crowds is clear, and he has performed during a multitude of events including the Reading and Leeds festivals, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Live Earth, and even an appearance at the Apollo theatre during the Royal Variety performance. As well as his television and radio commitments, he is a celebrity reporter for more! magazine and has found himself interviewing some of the biggest and best known celebrities across the country, including Greg James and Gok Wan.
